Lead the installation of several multi-million dollar projects,
conversions and other process productivity projects.
Key Project and Achievements:

Directed
and designed the complete LAN infrastructure upgrade for 5 different
plant product launches. Each
project consisted of the installation of a process network for the new
products being launched.
Each project had a budget of 2.5 Million dollars each.
·
Completed
the conversion from Netware to Microsoft Active Directory
Infrastructure. 15 Month
time line completed in just under 7 months.
Involved the conversion of 3500 Desktops and Laptops.
·
Installation of new web based process application for the Kokomo Casting
Plant. Purchased and
installed new server and SQL database for this application.
12 Month timeline completed in 8 months.
Total cost was 3.5 Million dollars and we saved the company $500k
by performing some work in-house.
·
Implemented cross training to allow employees to learn new areas and
expand their abilities.
Doing this allowed us to raise morale and allow many of our support
staff to get out of their comfort zone and work on other projects.
·
Standardized software to corporate standards saving the plant $750k per
year in software licensing costs.
·
Negotiated
deal with several software vendors for yearly maintenance contract to
cover all 4 plants.
Combining these software contracts allowed the savings of $100k
annually.
Technology Manager
City
of South Bend, South Bend, IN
1996-1997
Recruited to develop the Information Technology
Department for the City of South Bend.
Hire, train, develop and lead a team of 3 people in the support
of the wide area network supporting some 25 departments and 12 different
locations. Scope of position is
expansive and includes departmental direction and full design,
installation, engineering, implementation, support, training,
administration, and management authority.
Key projects and achievements
·
Installation of city wide area network – wide area network was installed
utilizing the existing fiber optic network that was laid in for the
traffic light control project.
This included the design, configuration and installation of
several routers, switches and other equipment.
It is estimated that about $ 1.5 Million dollars was saved by
utilizing existing infrastructure for connectivity to other city
facilities.

Established the city on the World Wide Web.
This included the installation of a mail gateway to allow
communication with city constituents.
·
Standardized the software applications allowing the purchase of a
licensing contract with a particular software vendor and allowing the
city to save $100k annually on software licenses and maintenance.
·
Upgrade of the city wide telephone system to Centrex.
Allowing the city to control phone installation costs and usage.
The conversion to Centrex saved the city $200k annually.

Recruited to manage the Information Technology
Department for Plymouth Tube Company Winamac Division.
Hire, train, develop and lead a team of 3 people in the support
of the 3 plant facilities in Winamac.
Scope of position is expansive and includes departmental
direction and full design, installation, engineering, implementation,
support, training, administration, and management authority.
Key projects and achievements
·
Installation of division wide area network – wide area network was
installed utilizing newly installed fiber runs to all buildings.
This allowed for the installation of New Netware servers to
support the entire site.
·
Oversaw the upgrade to several RM Cobol programs.
·
Programming of RM Cobol Programs to control Paint Marking Systems.
Programming in house saved the company $40k annually.

Recruited to develop the Information Technology Department Doane-Keyes
Associates. Hire, train,
develop and lead a team of 2 people in the support of the distribution
software and services. Scope
of position is expansive and includes departmental direction and full
design, installation, engineering, implementation, support, training,
administration, and management authority.
Key projects and achievements
·
Oversaw the conversion from System/36 outdated Distribution (ERP) system
to a PC based system. Total
budget was for $250k and project was brought in for just under $175k.
New system was Syspro Impact/Award ERP.
·
Developed exposure on the World Wide Web for the company.
This allowed the installation of an internet mail gateway to
allow for communication with customers.

Recruited to serve as operations specialist and programmer for
installation of new systems to guide in the loading and distribution of
the companies products. New
software was an application called “RoadNet”.
RoadNet would allow you to create routes based on geographic
locations in order to get the trucks loaded in reverse route stop order.
Position also included desktop support of 100 desktops running
windows 3.1.
